Industry terminology and material specifications explained — your reference guide for better parts selection.

The primary wear part in a jaw crusher, available as Fixed Jaw Plate and Swing Jaw Plate. Tooth profile grips and crushes material. Typically made from high manganese steel Mn18Cr2 or Mn13Cr2.

The inner cone liner in a cone crusher, paired with the Concave to form the crushing chamber. Standard and Short Head profiles available. Commonly Mn18Cr2 or Mn18Cr2+Ti.

The primary impact element in an impact crusher, rotating at high speed to strike material. High chrome Cr26 for abrasive conditions; Mn18Cr2 for high-impact applications.

The striking element in a hammer crusher, hinged on the rotor. Bi-metal composite hammers (Cr26 + carbon steel) balance wear resistance and toughness.

The wear tip on a VSI crusher rotor, subject to extreme velocity impact. Tungsten Carbide Insert offers the highest wear grade for severe conditions.

Alloy steel with 12–22% Mn content, exhibiting work hardening — surface hardness rises from HB 200 to HB 500+ under impact while core remains ductile. Grades: Mn13Cr2, Mn18Cr2, Mn22Cr2. Ideal for high-impact crushing.

White cast iron with 20–30% Cr, featuring Cr7C3 carbides in a martensitic matrix, HRC 58–62. Grades: Cr26, Cr26+Mo. Superior abrasion resistance but lower toughness — best for high-wear, low-impact conditions.

Carbon steel alloyed with Cr, Mo, Ni for structural parts like main shafts, eccentric shafts, and tension rods. 42CrMo4 (quenched & tempered) offers high strength and fatigue resistance — the standard for crusher main shafts.

Phenomenon where high manganese steel surface hardness increases from initial HB 200–250 to HB 500+ under impact loading, due to lattice slip and dislocation pile-up. This is why Mn steel gets harder during service and outperforms its initial hardness.

Casting process using a foam pattern buried in unbonded sand, vibrated for compaction. Molten metal vaporizes the foam and fills the cavity. Produces dimensionally accurate, smooth-surfaced castings — ideal for complex wear parts like jaw plates and mantles.

Heat treatment for high manganese steel: heat to 1050–1100°C, hold, then rapidly water-cool. Eliminates as-cast carbides to achieve single-phase austenite structure, ensuring high toughness and work-hardening capability. Post-quench hardness: HB 200–250.

The unique identifier assigned by the original equipment manufacturer to each spare part (e.g., Metso MN401, Sandvik 831.1.226). Used for precise identification and cross-referencing replacement parts — the most critical matching criterion in parts procurement.
